ThomasALLONBYAged 87, of Lupin Close, Accrington, passed away peacefully in the early hours of Friday, January 13 with his family by his side. Tom was born in Askam-in-Furness, completed his National Service in Chester, worked at Whinney Hill Brickyard and then was a security officer at Vine Mill, Oswaldtwistle until his retirement. In his youth, Tom was a motorcycle enthusiast. He visited The Isle of Man TT and owned bikes of his own. In his latter years he spent many happy hours at his allotment producing enough vegetables to give away to neighbours and friends. Tom was an avid football supporter and followed Burnley for many years. He will also be remembered for creating a variety of gnomes which many of his friends now have in their gardens. Tom is to be buried with his beloved wife Delia in Accrington Cemetery. Tom is survived by his son Paul, daughter-in-law Pauline, brother Gordon and his wife Margaret, grandchildren, Joanne, Lorraine, Cath, David, Jack and Lewis, plus great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Donations in memory of Tom are being received for The Henry Allen Trust.
