Passed away peacefully on Saturday 7th October at Brotton Hospital aged 89 years.

Devoted husband of the late Betty. Dearly loved father of Janet and the late Paul. Loving father in law of Richard and Helen. Treasured grandfather of Joe and the late Georgina. Also, a dear brother to Valerie. A friend to many.

Funeral service to take place at Marske Methodist Church on Wednesday 25th October at 10:00am followed by committal at Kirkleatham Crematorium.

Family flowers only please. Donations, if so desired, will be gratefully received for Teenage Cancer Trust.

Matthew was one of my teachers in the 1970’s at Redcar Lane Secondary Modern School.
He was a kind and supportive teacher who encouraged his students to do their best.
I was sorry to hear that he has died. Sending my condolences to the family. May he rest in peace.
