ANDREAS LIVERASBritish businessman Andreas Liveras was one of more than 125 people killed in terrorist attacks in Mumbai , India on 26 November, 2008.Mr Liveras, 73, a father-of-four formerly of Collingham in Nottinghamshire, was ashipping tycoon and self-made millionaire. He and his family emigrated to Britain from Cyprus in 1963. He owned the Fleur De Lys bakery and then Laurens Patisseries in Newark which his familysold in 2006.The Liveras family appeared on the Times Rich List 2008.The family had set up a successful yacht charter business, led by Andreas' son Dionysios.Among those who paid tribute to Mr Liveras was EasyJet boss Stelios Haji-Ioannou.Stelios , a Greek-Cypriot millionaire and founder of the airline, said: "I would offer my sincere condolences to the family and friends of Andreas. It must be devastating to lose a loved one in this brutal way. Andreas was a kind man and a great entrepreneur."Tony Roberts, leader of Newark and Sherwood District Council, paid tribute to Mr Liveras who he said helped save Newark from "economic doldrums" in the 1970s with his cake factory. He said: "I first met Andreas when he proposed to bring a cake factory into Newark. The town was going through the economic doldrums at the time and there was quite a lot of unemployment so for somebody to come in and set up a factory offering about 150 jobs was big news."He was a great salesman. He sold the council the idea and we were all keen to promote anything that would provide us with extra employment."He came good on his word and effectively trebled the number of employment places he had offered, to about 450. He was a big character - larger than life."FriendJohn Yates, a retired estate agent, said: "He was a great character. It is terribly sad. He was popular in Newark because he created so much employment."He was a good man to know. A guy who did a lot of good."He had been attending a yacht show inMumbai and had gone to the Taj Mahal Hotel for a curry. He became trapped there with about 1,000 other people when the terrorist attacks began.

Hi, I doubt you ever see this page as time has passed but I worked for your dad a long time ago when he first opened his shop in Harringay and I remember Kate very much.
We came from different worlds at that time but we had laughs especially when your mum was around making lemon stew on a Sunday my name was and still is Bernadette also worked at your uncles factory in school holidays back in the day.

Dear Krita

Some time now i have tried to communicate with you for conveying my condolences for the death of your father. I can not forget the time we spend with him/you and the nice letter which he wrote to me and to my family.

I also remember your mother and how caring she was and there is really little i can say about her passing away too.

Personally having lost my father under most unfortunate circumstances and recently also lost my brother George at a very young age, i can simply say dont give up, there would be better days to come, wishing you to live long time in order to remember both of your parents.

I shall try and findout your tel number in order to speak with you.

Very shocked at this news. Our deepest sympathy goes out to ALL his family - in particular his brother Bhris Liveras, with whom my family spent many happy holidays at his Villa in Paphos, Cyprus some yers ago. A wonderful family, God Bless you All at this sad time.

Our sincere condolences to the Liveras family. The most generous and sparkling peron that many have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Always there and available with encouragement and kind words and above all actions. A shining example of kindness and humanity has been lost through a dispicable act.

May you find everlasting peace and happiness Mr. Liveras.

Family von Stein.

This was very sad news, a terrible way for a life to end. Although we had not seen Andreas for many years we always though we would meet up again sometime, somewhere.

As competitors in his days running Fleur De Lys we would sometimes share a bottle of champagne (often in paper cups !) or a meal after a long day on an exhibition stand.

We are sure he will be missed by a lot of people and our sympathy at this time is with Dion, the rest of his family and all his close friends

To Krita, her sisters and brother: Words cannot express how devastated I feel over the loss of your father. Andreas lived large, he lived generous, he lived kind and he loved his family most of all.

I will never forget our flights from Athens and England to Ft. Lauderdale together via Iceland, Greenland and Nova Scotia. Nor will I forget the wonderful times aboard the Yachts in the Islands and off the coast of Greece and France.

I can not image how Bernie would have felt if he were alive and learned of Andreas's death. Both Andreas and Bernie were very special people and they thoroughly enjoyed each other.

Krita I am here for you as you were for me earlier this year.

With much love, Dr. Rita Nacken Gugel (Rita Brucker)
