ANTHONY EVERETTMajor Anthony Michael Everett died peacefully at home on 20 November, 2009, five days before his 88th birthday.Major Everett, father of the actor Rupert Everett, was also known as a racehorse owner.His family, wife Sara and sons Rupert and Simon requested donations in his memory for Help for Heroes or the injured jockeys fund.Major Everett was commissioned into the Wiltshire Regiment in 1941 and took part in the Burma campaign before serving in Germany, Malta, Cyprus and Denmark.He was passionate about travel and competed in the London to Cape Town race, tas well as driving from Istanbul to China along the Old Silk Road. He once crossed the Khyber Pass on a pony.He was senior partner of Laurie Millbank, stockbrokers in the City, then worked for an investment firm.Many of his horses featured "Presto" in their names. Presto Vento, won the 2002 Weatherbys Super Sprint, and Presto Shinko won the Ayr Gold Cup in 2005.
