Professor Sir JohnARBUTHNOTT(Glasgow 1939). Passed away recently in Nottingham, UK. Beloved husband of Lady Elinor and loving father of Anne, Andrew and Alison (Ali), beloved grandfather to his nine grandchildren. Loved by daughter-in-law and sons in-law and extended family. Former Professor of Microbiology at University Hospital, Queen's Medical Centre, University of Nottingham, (1988-91). Subsequently Vice-Chancellor of the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow and President of the Royal Society of Edinburgh. Sir John, who will be greatly missed, was a highly accomplished academic and leaves a rich legacy to education and to public life. Funeral service to take place on Monday 20th March 2023 at Wilford HIll Crematorium at 12:30pm.
