Very sad news! He was a genuinely great bloke, one of the best! I have some brilliant memories from trips around Sierra Leone with him. My sincerest condolences to his family and friends.

So sad to hear of this. Alan was one of life's good guys. I travelled around Sierra Leone with Alan during our time working together. Alan was never one to be fazed. Cool in a crisis and great fun to be around. His sense of humour was as dry as it comes. Alan knew how to travel and often talked about his family. It was pleasure to have known Alan and his work ethic and sharing of his knowledge really was the benchmark. So sorry but very glad to have known you Alan. Regards Michael Metson

I am very sad to hear of Alan’s passing. I really enjoyed working with Alan in the office and overseas on both a personal and professional level. He was always happy to share his vast knowledge and he helped me out no end. When down in Slough Alan and I and other friends and colleagues had many an evening meal together, he was always good company.
I shall miss Alan, my deepest condolences.
Matt Game, Unatrac.
