ARSEMA DAWITRemembering Arsema Dawit who was found stabbed to death in a block of flats in Waterloo, London, on 2 June, 2008, three days after her 15th birthday.Arsema had come to London from the war-torn African country Eritrea in 2004. At that time she spoke little or no English, but she quickly settled in.She loved maths, history and reading, and also attended St Michael's Eritrean Orthodox Church in Camberwell where she sang in the choir. The priest there, Father Johannes Sibhatu, described her as a well-liked girl and a “committed Christian”.Cathy Loxton, principal of Arsema's school, the Harris Academy in Bermondsey, said: “We are all shocked by the loss of one of our students and tragic ending of a life that showed so much promise. Arsema was a popular, friendly and well behaved girl who had much to contribute to our school community.”Arsema left her mother, Tsehay Dawit, a brother Robel, 13, and sister Faruz, 12.
