Ron Ash, a wonderful grandad; a wonderful man really. Everyone is right, he was a massive Elvis fan. I remember us dancing together with my cousin, Alex, to some Elvis. He adored my Nana, Pat, too. I remember sitting in his house and he showed me a picture of her, and I'll never forget him saying "I love your Nan I do, any woman could walk past me, but they'll never compare to her." I hope they have fun up there, dancing to Elvis and playing darts. Darts, that's something I could go on about forever! He was a man of many achievements, swimming, darts, gardening, wallpapering, singing, but most of all, being the best grandad ever! I love you, grandad, have fun up there. ❤

Ron was a lovely man who was devoted to his family a fantastic dad, grandad and great grandad and grandfather-in-law who will be sadly missed by all of us. A brave man who left his native northeast with only hope and a train ticket, and found a new life and love in high Wycombe before eventually making his way back to the Toon he so loved. He is at peace now and always in our hearts.

My amazing, selfless, hysterical daddy. It was a privilege to be your child. No girl on this Earth could have wished for a better dad than you, I was so lucky, so grateful that you were mine. You just loved us all, would have done anything, given anything for each one of us. Usually though, it was me more than the other two, eh? :) The most unselfish man anyone ever met. You had no enemies, liked and loved by everyone you met. Your stupid sense of humour, your love of life, your absolute commitment to your family were only a drop in the ocean of what you were. An original rock 'n' roller, the world's biggest Elvis and Johnny Cash fan, an expert upholsterer and decorator, a loyal husband, a brilliant neighbour... The list to describe you, dad, is literally endless. But top of that list, always, is "my hero". My teacher, my friend, my bank(!), my source of endless love and my forgiving, wonderful dad with a heart the size of a planet. "See that star, Lis. That's the North Star. Where ever you go in the world, you look at that and I'll look at that and we will always be thinking of each other". How right you were dad. I've done that since you said that to me decades ago on a walk back from the pub! The Power Of Love. You will always be with me. I will miss you forever. x

My incredible Grandad Ron passed away peacefully on the 24th Jan at the freeman hospital with me by his side which in these covid times is something I will forever be grateful for.
Ron was born in 1935 in Walker Newcastle, he moved to High Wycombe where he met and fell in love with Pat, they married in 1961, Ron idolised Pat and rightly so together they made a remarkable pair. They later went on to have Caroline and Lisa, Pat already had a son Michael who Ron took on as his own without a second thought. Ron worked as a upholster something which he was passionate about infact when he retired and moved back to walker (4 doors from his childhood home) he continued to do odd jobs for people something which we can remember foundly is his swearing in the shed! He was an active and popular member of the local social club and worked on the committee. Ron was a people person and everyone loved him and he liked everyone. He was everyone's mate, that go to person, need anything go see Ron!
Grandad loved his family and was immensely proud of them all, he wanted them to be happy with their chosen paths in life. I can remember him teaching me how to reupholster furniture, wallpaper, change a plug, ride a bike and many more things, he helped me get my first job and flat and gave me the independence and confidence to get a start on adult life, but always ready to catch me when I fell. Anyone who knows him will know what a big elvis fan he was, I hope he's up there dancing with him right now, I can hear my Nan calling him 'come on Ron leave him alone'
Losing Pat in 2013 was a massive hit to his health but he continued to do his usual bus routes to town or the coast just for a ride out.
I could write forever about this incredible man and what he has done for so many people but I'll leave that for another day.
I will miss you forever and love you for eternity my hero, my friend my Grandad. ❤
