EdwardASPINMr Edward Patrick Aspin, of Franklin Ainsworth House, Great Harwood, passed away peacefully in hospital on Friday, February 26, aged 88. Husband of the late Dorothy, he leaves son Stephen and daughter-in-law Dianne, son Peter and partner Janis, and grandson Gavin and his fiancee Helen. Born in Great Harwood, he attended Our Lady and St Hubert’s School. He did his National Service in Germany with the Royal Air Force. He served his time as an Engineering Miller and English Electric, Clayton-le-Moors, worked in the tool room and on inspection, and finished his employment at the Royal Ordnance Factory in Blackburn as Production Manager. In his teens he played cricket for Great Harwood. In later life he played darts and dominoes for The Plough, Great Harwood. He was also a lifelong supporter of Blackburn Rovers, and had an interest in politics. He was a member of St Hubert’s Church. Due to current government restrictions, a private funeral service will be held for immediate family and invited close friends, with cremation at Accrington Cemetery. Family flowers only, with donations if desired to the Cardiology Ward at the Royal Blackburn Hospital. Funeral director: Birtwistle & Rishton, Great Harwood.
