JackAUSTINMr Jack Austin sadly passed away on Thursday, April 1, at Nelson Manor Care Home, aged 83. Devoted husband to the late Ursula, he leaves three daughters, Carol, Susan and Janet, and a son Ian. He also leaves seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Jack was born in Haslingden and worked for Rossendale Borough Council until his retirement in 1985. He had a passion for sport and in particular for football and cricket. He was an avid supporter of Burnley Football Club and played for Grane Villa in his youth. He also opened the batting for Haslingden Cricket Club for many years. Jack continued to support them as a member when he became too old to play. After his retirement, he could be seen walking the streets of Rossendale on a daily basis, something he did until late 2020. Jack’s funeral will be held on Monday, April 19, leaving Johnson, Durning and Woods funeral home, Pleasant Street, Haslingden at 10am, for a service and cremation at Accrington Crematorium at 10.20am. Due to the ongoing current Covid restrictions, the numbers able to attend are limited.
