Sara on the shores of Lake Garda, October 2008

Dear Sara, oh how we miss you. I took this lovely photograph of you by the shores of Lake Garda, at Malcesine, where I had taken you for a few days during my school half-term to get away from it all, to give you some good memories as only a few months previously, in May, you had had your second liver transplant, and I had promised you this holiday when you were feeling better. The memories are bittersweet as when I look at this picture you are so beautiful and seemed so healthy on the outside, yet I know you badly needed help as in your head you were so muddled and insisted that you had seen alien spaceships up in the clouds above the mountains and were hearing voices in your head. So hard to believe that six months later you would no longer be with us, oh my darling, would that you were with us still.
Much love always,
Mummy
