I met first met Dr Banerjee many years ago whilst on visits to Rebecca during our university holidays. He made me very welcome and was always calm, kind and warm. My happiest memories of him are of busy Saturday mornings when wonderful spinach curries would be shared and his friends would visit. Through my long friendship with Rebecca, I have admired Dr Banerjee's incredible work ethic and the inspiration he gave his family. Rest in peace Dr Banerjee with love Karen Taylor and family.

I first met Sukumar at a reunion of doctors who trained in Calcutta. It was always a great please to spend time with him and talk about his life in India. He was very proud of David, Rebecca and his grandsons. Sukumar was a gentle, kind and thoughtful man, a true gentleman. Patrick Howe
