Victor RobertBARBERFor Robert Of all the people we meet in life most disappear from view The ones we like the very best become the chosen few The friends we like to be with to share a point of view In good times and in bad to share a cake and brew Of all the friends we’ve made in life that special one is you It’s been so many years we met and friendship soon began Theatre was our special bond in music and in fan From village shows to full stage opera G&S and musicals too You styled the hair and played the parts Our loving home that was the Arts Our friendship grew throughout the years and blossomed through and through From holidays in Cyprus and mountains with a view The parties in your garden with lots of plants to see With all your friends around you and lots of fun and glee Your garden is your pride and joy and with it brought you pleasure a healthy pastime out of doors to pass away your leisure The many hours we’ve spent with you admiring all your plants And all your friends and family including all your aunts Remember Highclere Castle, a picnic for us four With Champagne toast and gourmet food and music from afar The Downtown Abbey backdrop was glorious to see the only thing that’s missing was a maid serving the tea Or for yourself a coffee as we know what you prefer Your baking skills are put to use each winter for a cause And Family and friends resort to giving much applause The monies raised each coffee morn Exceeded all the norm And you should feel so very proud for raising all that lolly And helping folks you’ll never know To be a little jolly Remembering all the haircuts you gave throughout the years Whenever a holiday beckoned you’d reach out for your shears You’d take off all the curly bits to trim above the ears You never lost the skills you honed from working in your shop And I for one was grateful to see you for a chop You took up walking late in life and made so many friends From sunny days to wind and rain you always would turn up And forged a special bond with some who came back for a cup The many friends you’ve made in life admire you from afar From Hairdressing to BBC Fitzwilliam to the Arts The costumes you looked after there were stunning works of art And the costume show we all performed we really looked the part And lastly on to Fenners in the gym you raised the bar Your working life was varied and kept you occupied And sitting in your garden would fill your heart with pride Where’re your journey takes you remember we intend you’ll never be forgotten Because you are our friend With love Roger & Richard

Robert was the most loving, caring and entertaining Uncle one could imagine. He remains in my thoughts constantly; and I can't really believe that he is no longer with us. Many people faced with a terminal illness understandably shy away from people; but not Robert. His love for our family knew no bounds. He often came round to help us look after the twins; tended to the garden; and even did the ironing! This to me epitomized his character; as he was such a loving person who would give his all. I understand that today he would have been raising money by baking and selling cakes for Macmillan nurses, which again that illustrates how thoughtful and loving a man he was. He was also always highly entertaining with a wicked sense of humor too! His premature departure leaves a huge vacuum in our family; and the children still make reference to him frequently. I already miss our chats and his love and support. Robert was one in a million and he will forever remain in my heart. RIP Robert x
