PeterBARCROFTSadly, Peter Barcroft passed away on Saturday, February 20 at the Royal Blackburn Hospital after one hospital stay too many. He leaves his wife Kay, son Adam, daughter-in-law Louise, grandchildren Hannah and Daniel, sister Judith, brothers David and Mark, their partners, and many wonderful friends. Born and raised in Bacup, he moved to Stacksteads when he married in 1979. He studied footwear design at college in Rawtenstall, then worked for footwear company Jay Bill, before moving to Bacup Shoe as a pattern cutter, and later on to Feniger and Blackburn. Peter spent over 35 years in various musical groups, latterly being the Whisky Chorus, playing at many celebrations, events, and pubs and clubs. He was also interested in amateur radio and completed a radio ham course. Peter loved to ride his trike and enjoyed many outings with good friends. He helped Kay with her stall on Rawtenstall market, where he loved to talk and joke with traders and customers. His funeral is on Friday, March 12, leaving Knight & Boys in Stacksteads at 1.15pm for Burnley Crematorium. Family flowers only, but small pots of snowdrops, crocus, and daffodils will be gratefully accepted, to be planted later in the year in a public area. Donations in lieu of flowers for the Salvation Army and Emmaus c/o funeral director. Happy memories to be placed on the coffin can be written on postcard sized paper and submitted to either Kay or Knight & Boys three days before the funeral. Remember Peter with a smile.
