Patricia Margaret (Pattie)BARNESPeacefully in hospital following a short illness on Wednesday, July 8, Patricia Margaret Barnes, aged 73 years, of Clayton-le-Moors. The devoted and adored wife of Jim, Pattie was the loving mum of Mark, Karen and Sarah, dear mother-in-law of Sarah, Paul and Mark, cherished grandma of Steven, Thomas, Jacob, Lewis and Liam, great-grandma of Robyn, and dear sister of Peter and his wife Kathleen. Pattie spent her younger years working as a window dresser at Littlewood’s store in Blackburn, and later worked at H J Wilson’s. She met the love of her life Jim in 1966 and they were married in 1967 and have shared a wonderful and happy 53 years of marriage. She was the most devoted wife to Jim and during his service in the army she accompanied him with their children to wherever he was posted, including a spell of living in Germany. Following their return to the UK the couple set up home in Clayton-le-Moors and Pattie startedworking at Bonmarché as the manageress, and then moved to Gene Sutcliffe’s, where she became a well known and loved face. Most of all Pattie was a loving family lady whodoted on her children and grandchildren, she always looked forward to getting away on holiday and has travelled around the globe over the years. Pattie would do anything for anyone, she gave her time to charity helping as a volunteer and serving on the Accrington Branch RNLI committee for over 25 years. Pattie will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her. A private family funeral service was held. The service was to be streamed live for all those who could not attend. Donations to RNLI or Cancer Research UK via funeral director Champ Funeral Services, Clayton-le-Moors.
