JoyceBARNESPassed peacefully at Highfield Care Home on March 2, aged 92. Joyce lived in Haslingden for almost 70 years where she was well known through her milk round, which she carried on until her retirement. A much loved mum to Roy, Philip and Julie, Isabelle and Paul, Andrew and Kim. Loving granny of Rosie, Adam, Evan and Owen. Loving sister to Roy. Devoted wife of the late Walter. Her funeral will be held at St James Parish Church on Friday, March 17 at 11am. Donations are welcomed in Joyce’s memory for the Alzheimer’s Society. Sorry to hear of the passing of dear Joyce Barnes, just heard today (14.06.2024). Joyce was a life long friend of my mother, Rosemary Douglas and Jack Douglas. They knew each other since Joyce came to live in Haslingden as a young lady and met my mother, they must have started chatting and became life long friends until my mothers death in 2007 at 74 years old. We were blessed to visit Joyce on her farm before she died and had a good chat and a lovely few hours in her company, I shall never forget her warmth and humour, she will be sadly missed. I have found this nice picture of Joyce and Walter at my mothers funeral get together in 2007 at the Whittakers Arms in Accrington opposite the Burnley Road Cemetary. RIP to this nice couple.
