AnthonyBARONTony sadly lost his battle with cancer, bravely borne, on Monday, May 24. He passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family. He leaves behind his cherished long-term partner of 38 years Helen, her son Peter and his wife Leonna, daughter Claire, and three grandchildren Billy, Samuel, and Emily. Tony also leaves behind his loving brothers and sisters, Terry and his wife Joyce, Graham, Janet and her husband Dave, Alison, and their children. He was also a fabulous uncle, cousin, and friend to many. Tony attended Woodnook and The Hollins schools, and left at age 16. He worked in the textile industry for almost 40 years as a knotter and textile technician at Hilden’s, until their closure. Following this, he worked as a service engineer in Mobility. Recently, happily working for Halliday Healthcare in Rossendale; a job which he loved. As a youngster he swam for school and entered many swimming galas. He enjoyed playing football in the Accrington Combination for several clubs, including Foxhill Old Boys, as well as playing in the West Lancs Inter League for a time. Tony loved family life, and was very happy spending lots of time with his family, friends, and neighbours, helping everyone. Always chatting, smiling, tinkering with his motorbike, and fixing all manner of things! He was simply Mr Fix It. Music was also important to him, and he particularly enjoyed UB40, Bob Marley, and Meatloaf. When not at work or home, Tony enjoyed holidays abroad and in the UK. His favourite destinations were Majorca and the Greek Islands, where he loved chilling on the beach. Family flowers only please; donations to Rosemere Cancer Foundation and North West Air Ambulance. The funeral will take place on Monday, June 7, at 1pm at Accrington Crematorium. Funeral director: Hyndburn Funeral Services, Accrington.

So sad to hear of Tony's death. We enjoyed quite a few holidays together in our late teens and early twenties to Spain and Canada. The last time we talked was at his 60th birthady party when we caught up on old times. Our thoughts are with Helen and and Tony's family at his sad time. My relations in Canada where we stayed during our vist would also like to offer their sympathy at this sad tme. It's 40 years since we were there but they stiil remember him and descibed Tony as a great guy.

Never got chance with covid for a proper live catch up. 4 teenage lads let loose on Rhyl for 2 weeks, us, Jimmy (hells angel) Pate & Paul. We put shaving foam in Jimmy's bed - not a good move!
Life drifted us apart but we both ended up with near on 40 yrs happy relationships & the occasional family catch up.
RIP love cousin Derek & wife Lesley. xx
Condolences to Helen & family.
