Helen JoanBARONIt is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Helen Baron, aged 66 of Baxenden on August 4. Helen was married to her husband and soulmate, Cliff, for 34 years in Baxenden. She was the youngest child of the late Stanley and Phyllis Brindle and is survived by her older brother, David. Helen was a devoted mother to Sarah and Stephanie and loving stepmother to Tracey; an adored grandmother of Tyler, Paul, Callen, Denise and Lewis. Helen was an outstanding health care assistant/nursing auxiliary on the mental health wards at Rossendale General Hospital, before transferring to Burnley and the Royal Blackburn Hospitals when Rossendale was closed. This was her vocation for over 30 years, treating her patients with great care and dignity. Outside of work, Helen’s main interest was her horses and was never happier when devoting her spare time to Lady, Diamond and Comet: Horses which provided her with a lot of pleasure, taking pride in showing them at local shows and competitions. She also volunteered with her husband, Cliff at the Only Foals and Horses Sanctuary in Oswaldtwistle for a number of years at the weekends. Helen also loved to travel around the UK and abroad, enjoying caravan and camping holidays around the UK and especially visiting Malta twice per year. Helen was a good friend to many and delighted people with her great sense of humour. She was loved by so many people and will be greatly missed. Her funeral will take place at St John’s Church Baxenden on Thursday, August 24 at 1.15pm, followed by committal at Accrington Crematorium at 2.20pm. Family flowers only. The family would welcome donations in lieu of flowers to be shared equally between Only Foals and Horses Sanctuary and the Community Mental Health Team at The Mount, Accrington.

Mum, you are missed so very much and I will always remember those special times we shared. The following poem gives me great comfort because I know you are now at peace in the loving arms of the Lord.

"She's in the sun, the wind, the rain,
She's in the air you breathe
With every breath you take
She sings a song of hope and cheer,
there's no more pain, no more fear
You'll see her in the clouds above,
hear her whisper words of love,
you'll be together before long,
until then, listen for her song."

Do rest well Mum, and may flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.
