Cecilia PhyllisBARTONSurrounded by her family, Cecilia peacefully departed this life on 7th August 2026 at Elmside Care Home, Hitchin, aged 96. After more than 50 years in Lampeter, Cecilia had moved to Hitchin in 2016 to be nearer her children.
Re-united with her beloved husband, Ian Maxwell and son Christopher, she is survived by three of her four children, Philip, Penelope and Rosalind. She was proud grandmother of nine grandchildren, namely Merewyn, Axe, Sophie, Maxwell, Ita, Tazeth, Eleanor, Edward, William and seven great grandchildren; Edeline, Livvy, Jarvis, Thomas, Connie, Lola and Florence.
After raising their young family and local supply teaching, Cecilia fully committed to public service. Formerly Chairman of Ceredigion District Council, Mayor of Lampeter, longtime Brown Owl, and committee member of Lampeter Swimming Pool, Family Centre and Museum. She was also deeply involved in many other community organisations.
Cremation at 1pm on Friday 4th September at
North Hertfordshire Crematorium, Holwell SG5 3RT.
