Ronald WilliamBATTYPassed away peacefully aged 97 years on 16 July 2024. Beloved husband of Joyce, dearly loved father of Christopher and Alan, grandfather of Harriet, Peter, Jenny and Josh, and great grandfather of Florence, Lochlan and Teddy. Ron went to primary school at Croxton, then he boarded at Wrekin College before volunteering in 1944 for the Royal Artillery where he served in Burma,India and Hong Kong. He returned in1948 and joined the family jewellery business in Manchester. Ron played hockey for the S and B first team and trialled for the county and captained the team in the 1950's. He and Joyce were members of the Argyle Tennis club for many years until they retired to the Lake District in 1992. He and his wife had many friends in both Southport and Keswick. The service is being held at Trent Valley Crematorium on 6th August at 10.30am.
