Very sad to have learned of the passing of Mrs Baxter. Since retiring as a podiatrist from the NHS I have often reflected on the patients I came to know well, and who showed me much kindness – Betty and Lol foremost amongst them. It was always a real pleasure welcoming Betty and Lol onto my clinics. I remember how she tackled life's challenges with vigour, enthusiasm and tenacity. I remember too how proudly Betty spoke of her family; it was always interesting to hear of their news whether locally or from France. Betty was always appreciative of my modest efforts – which earned her a special place in my affections. I imagine Betty's loss is being deeply felt just now, and indeed far and wide. I hope it may be a small comfort to Lol and family that Betty's life was well lived and purposeful, and that she filled the lives of her family and many friends with much love, and with happy and special memories. I am sure Betty is at peace. My condolences to all the Baxter family.
