David RobertBEASANTDied suddenly and unexpectedly at his home in Cottam aged 77 years.
David, eldest son of the late Ted and Brenda, lived all his life in the village, attending Rampton County Primary School and later King Edward V1 Grammar School in Retford, where he was a bright pupil. He attended university and teacher training college.
David had several jobs including working as an announcer on Retford Railway Station and as a German teacher. His passion for the language continued throughout his life, which, sadly, was beset with severe psychological problems.
His early life was spent in nature around the village, making dens in the nearby woods and visiting Mickleholme Farm, owned by his late grandparents, which was demolished to make way for Cottam Power Station. He enjoyed chess, making things and later horticulture, bodybuilding and watching snooker.
He is survived by his sister and two younger brothers.
There will be a private burial.
Flowers are most welcome.
