ChristopherBEENYMuch loved actor Christopher Beeny, most known for appearing in popular TV series Upstairs Downstairs, passed away at his home in Kent on Friday 3rd January 2020, aged 78 years. His son announced the sad news on Twitter, paying tribute to his father: "He was 78. Comforted to know he was not alone at the end and was in his armchair." The London-born actor had his first taste of the spotlight aged six when he danced for the Ballet Rambert, and went on to land his first role in 1953 with The Long Memory. He was also one of the first British soap stars, nabbing the part of Lenny Grove in the 1950s BBC series The Grove Family. Christopher was well known for having played the footman Edward Barnes in Upstairs Downstairs and had also starred in Last Of The Summer Wine and In Loving Memory. He will be sadly missed by family, friends and fans alike. You can leave your tributes to Christopher below.

He played his part in Upstairs, Downstairs, with great skill. He passed away too early, but in the way we would all like to.

i loved watching Christopher Beeny in Upstairs and Down stairs and most of all when he played in loving memory, I never got to meet the actor when I worked in the theatre in the late 80's in Birmingham, I will admit I had a wee bit of a crush with him, sad you have gone Christopher, you will be up there with Thora, God bless you and the family

Followed his acting career from the Grove Family .... and grandma who would "die for lack of nourishment" . In living memory which was a favourite. Thank you Christopher for your wonderful contribute to life.
