Elizabeth Mortimer - CookBETTY GOUGHBorn 29 July 1922 Died 11 December 2021 Aged 99 Resident of Hurst Farm Road, East Grinstead since 1959 Funeral Service at St. Swithun's Church, East Grinstead at 11:00am on Thursday 6 January 2022 Elizabeth passed away in Horsham following 10 weeks in Hospital recovering from broken ribs and then COVID. She leaves a son, daughter-in-law and three amazing grandchildren. Elizabeth lived independently in East Grinstead for the last 38 years despite suffering from severe Macular Degeneration, thanks to the care and support from family, carers, local service providers and many friends and neighbours. She was widely known and liked, having worked at both Sackville and The Meads schools as ‘a dinner lady’ and was an enthusiastic volunteer and organiser being active in a number of local organisations including The Red Cross, Macular Society, Royal Air Force Association, RNIB and until very recently a local seniors’ luncheon club. Elizabeth’s family would like to share their appreciation of everyone in the town that befriended her and whose lives she touched through the years; you all enriched her life and made it possible for her to enjoy living in her own home and cherished garden until very near the end. All friends, acquaintances and neighbours are welcome to the service, the family asks in advance that donations are made in place of flowers to the Just Giving Page we have set up to split equally across the Macular Society, Royal Air Force Association and Blind Veterans UK. www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/elizabethscharities?utm_term=pb5pnr75K
