Taken from us all too soon, I first met Roger when I moved to Canterbury in 1982. An early recollection of his sense of humour was when the office in which we worked was given the job of answering enquiries about the Papal visit. In true Roger style he would answer the phone: Pope's visit Enquiry Office, (or Papal visit) Bishop of Canterbury speaking. Dear friend we shall miss not only your keen wit, but your generous heart, wisdom, concern and the help you gave to others.

I am sorry to hear the news about Roger. I worked with from 1976-1978 at Canterbury City Council. We shared a love of sport, although I preferred the round to the oval ball. His love of Thanet Wanderers was however often the topic of conversation. I fondly remember the monthly card evenings shared at each others houses. I hope the family have many memories that will help them over the coming months and years. Rest in peace Roger.
