MichaelBOARDIt is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Michael Board of Penllyn, Cowbridge at home on 28 March 2023. Beloved husband of Virginia (Ginny), devoted father of Victoria, James, and Nathaniel, a proud grandfather, loved and respected father-in-law and also a dear brother and brother-in-law. Mike enjoyed a life-long love of learning. It began at Cowbridge Grammar School where he achieved both academic and sporting success. Imperial College London awaited and a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He spent his career in education as a distinguished academic based at his much-loved Polytechnic of Wales from where he travelled the world lecturing. He never ceased to be fascinated by different cultures and the reception he received. Mike was deeply involved with his beloved Cowbridge Squash Club where he cherished the company and friendship of others. Golf was another of his joys - whether that be on the links at Southerndown or one of his many golfing tours. Well-travelled, well-versed, inquisitive and a great companion. He was, quite simply, someone we are proud cast his glow on our lives. He will be forever missed. A private, family only service will be held in the upcoming weeks.
