Hi Julie
As promised my memories of Peter
First met back in 1974 (a friend of a friend)
Soon discovered we had the same passion in motorsport and it all went from there
At the time I was competing in single seaters and Peter was the Motoring News correspondent at the events, needless to say, I got reviews beyond my results!
Hey what are friends for?
Started going with Peter to watch the RAC rally every year eagerly anticipated Boots Flasks and Butties
After a while I thought let’s have a go at this and entered a little club rally at Aintree with Peter navigating (we won outright,)
Peter and Jean then seemed to move around the country a lot and we lost contact somewhat but he always turned up at the Prom rally every year and we had a catch up
Once he retired he started to venture further afield and became a regular on our trips to Ypres in Belgium and was much loved by all the posse, always the sensible one who knew the way back to the hotel after a few beers
The last time he was able to come in 2018 he amazed us all with his tenacity and determination to walk into the stages with his crutches and help from Nigel
Though not sure who was helping who
A lifelong friend, always there for me, who will be sadly missed
Rallying will not be the same without him
Regards Lyndon
