As a lifetime friend of Ben and Jonny, some of my most joyful childhood memories were spent at Little Eversden and Porson Road and Carol couldn’t have been more welcoming and accommodating. I always felt completely at home, which has to be the best compliment you can pay a host.

I found Carol to be kind, gentle, warm, fun and friendly and very easy to spend time with.

I was grateful for wonderful Lanzarote holiday memories spent with the Greens when we were younger.

I also enjoyed watching her present the esteemed Victor Ludorum several times at school to some bloke called Ben who, rather annoyingly, always seems to win it.

I remember her enjoying two songs of the time, namely “To all the girls I’ve loved before” by Nelson and Iglesias and “No more Lonely nights” by McCartney. These songs will always remind me of her.

I look back on all this with great fondness and am grateful for her part in my childhood.
