My sincere condolences to Gwendolen and to all of Peter’s family. I first met Peter many years ago in Poole in England. He was truly a man of enthusiasm and motivation to enhance nursing education, practice, research and leadership. He was always willing to help in any way possible and as an External Examiner for Nursing Education in a few universities in Ireland, he provided great insight and support. At local and national level, he helped us in Ireland to lead and manage the nursing and midwifery transition to academia and for that I believe we owe him a debt of gratitude. He was entertaining as well as erudite. Peter was a real gentleman, and always smiling, good humoured and always so expert as seeing both sides of any argument! Over his distinguished career, he made many friends in Ireland. We will miss him and always remember him with fondness. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dilís.
