ClaireBRADYMrs Claire Bridget Brady, nee Delaney, of Accrington, died unexpectedly but peacefully in her sleep, on Saturday, February 19, aged 87. Claire was born in Coolagh, Clonaslee, County Laois, Ireland. She was one of 11 children: Maureen and Kathleen (deceased), but is survived by her dear brothers Patrick and Jim, and sisters Breeda, Teresa, Nancy, Finola, Josie, and Fidelma. Claire was the beloved mother of seven children, Kathleen, Geralyn, Raymond, Philip, Donald, Aiden, and Desmond. She was the dear mother-in-law of Gerard, Peter, Anne, Odete, Linzey and Sarah, beloved grandmother to Michelle, Christopher, Joshua, Luke, Orla and Jake, and great-grandmother to Sienna, Harry and Jack. She emigrated to America in the late 1950’s where she met the love of her life, the late Philip Brady, in Chicago, Illinois. They married and had two daughters, before returning to Cavan in Ireland, then moved to London where they had five boys. They settled in Lancashire over 50 years ago, where they would later celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with family and friends. Claire enjoyed travelling, reading, painting, sewing and cooking. She was a lifelong member of St Joseph’s Church, and participated in its social and fundraising events. She will be sadly missed by many dear friends as well as her family. A Requiem Mass will be held at St Joseph’s Church at 10.15am on Friday, March 11. This will be followed by a cremation service for close family and friends at 11.40am. Special thanks to Peter and Sonya Regan for their kind ministrations. Claire’s wish was for family flowers only, but donations will be welcomed for Cancer Research UK c/o funeral director Hyndburn Funeral Services, Accrington.
