JoanBRERETONMrs Joan Brereton, formerly Holden, of Cranbourne Drive, Church, sadly passed away in her sleep after a short illness on Thursday, August 5, aged 87. Joan started her school life at Princess Street, Accrington, and went to Sacred Heart Primary School before moving on to St Oswald’s. She began her working life at MacFarlands in Oswaldtwistle, before going on to work for Joseph Arnold’s, from where she eventually retired. She travelled extensively to most parts of the world with both Harry and Jim, and was an inspiration to us all and a lifelong supporter of the Church - Joan will be sadly missed x. Widow of Harry and Jim, sister to John and much-loved and admired Auntie to Sandra, Katie and John and great-auntie to Mary, Kate, and Jonnathon, and cousin to Michael and Joan. Joan also leaves behind many, many good friends whom she has met and kept as friends through every stage of her wonderful and full life. A funeral service will take place at 10am on Thursday, August 19, with a Requiem Mass at St Anne’s RC Church, Accrington, administered by Fr. Seamus Quigley, followed by interment at Dill Hall Cemetery, Church, Accrington at 11am. Family flowers only please, however donations, if desired, suggested for St Anne’s Restoration Fund c/o funeral director Hyndburn Funeral Services, Queen’s Road, Accrington.
