BRIAN GIBSONFormer Huddersfield Town full-back Brian Gibson died aged 82 in May, 2010.Born in the town, he first played for The Terriers in the mid-50s, eventually making 171 appearances for them before retiring from the game in 1962. He continued working at the club boosting its pools scheme until 1970.Despite relegation early in his Town career, in 1956, Gibson formed a strong full-back partnership in Division 2 with Ray Wilson, and featured in the run to the FA Cup fifth round in 1956-57, under manager Bill Shankly. He also played in the 5-1 third-round replay win at West Ham in 1959-60 and his final game for the club was in the 4-3 third-round win over Rotherham 1961-62.He scored a single goal for Huddersfield: in a 3-0 win over Lincoln in the 1959-60 season.After retirement from the game he ran a dripping refinery, falling back on his old trade as a tripe dresser.He was survived by his wife, two daughters and a son.
