Anna MariaBROWNsadly passed away on Sunday, May 29, aged 91, at Blackburn Hospital, surrounded by her family. Anna was born in Italy and came to England aged 17 with a group of friends looking for a new start. She stayed in a hostel in Cloughfold and found work in a nearby factory. Anna met the love of her life Harold, her late husband, at the Astoria, Rawtenstall, and they were married for 61 wonderful years. For most of their lives they ran H&A Brown Newsagents in Stacksteads. They regularly attended Holy Trinity Tunstead Church. Anna loved to bake, knit and sew. Many of her knitted garments for children went abroad and to charity shops. Anna leaves her son Adrian, daughter Vanessa and her partner David, sisters-in-law Sheila, Brenda, Teresa, brotherin-law Jim, and many nephews and nieces and friends. Anna touched the lives of many with her love, kindness and friendship and will be sadly missed by all. The funeral is on Wednesday, June 15 at Holy Trinity Church, Tunstead at 1pm, followed by interment at Bacup Cemetery. Flowers or donations to mum’s charity at heart is to Missionaries of Charity of Mother Teresa of Calcutta Trust.
