It is with heavy hearts that we share the deeply sad news that Katharine passed away peacefully, at home, on Thursday 20th March 2025, aged 74 years. She was the much loved mother of Richard and Andrew, mother-in-law to McKenzie and Sarah, as well as devoted and loved granny to Oliver, Harry, Ellie, Elliot and Maxton, also a loving sister of Mary Matthewson.

Katharine loved her days as a teacher, working with primary aged pupils at Darras Hall First School and Newcastle Royal Grammar School. Prior to retirement, she married her passion for education with her love of the outdoors through her work as an associate tutor for the Field Studies Council in the Lake District.

She will be sadly missed by all her family, friends and former colleagues.

The funeral service will be held at Newcastle West Road Crematorium on Friday 4th April at 9.00am, to which all family and friends are respectfully invited.
