The obituary notice of Frederick BRUNSKILL (Fred)

Very sad news, Fred was a font of knowledge on Redcar’s history (past and not so distant past), he always had an interest in local history from his early days as a young chap helping with the slide show when Laurie Picknett gave his talks about Redcar’s early days. Fred amassed hundreds of photos and a wealth of information concerning Redcar and shared it with anyone who was interested, he had a remarkable memory. He was an inspiration and a great help to me when I was compiling my books about Redcar, he suggested I get them printed and I felt it was only right to give them to the Zetland Museum to sell towards their fundraising. The Museum was very important to Fred and he worked tirelessly to support it. Many people post photos or ask questions on this site about Redcar’s past and you can bet someone will answer in the comments “I bet Fred Brunskill will know, ask him”. That in itself is a tribute to this lovely man who will be sorely missed by all who knew him. R.I.P. Fred.
