Peter RalphBURCHIt is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Peter Burch on August 27, 2026.
He was devoted husband to his beloved late wife Vanessa, and partner to Sandra; dearly and much-loved father to Sarah, Tessa and Simon and father-in-law to Ben and Claire; grandfather to Christian, Adam, Thomas, Charlotte, Daniel and Isobel; brother to Deidre and Phillida; and uncle to Michael, Philip, Liz and David.

His family are especially proud of the way Peter brought fun, interest and colour wherever he went, from his years working as a metallurgist at Rolls-Royce at Raynesway to his happy retirement living in Nerja, Spain.
He will also be remembered by his wider friends in both countries, including the Hall and Brooks families.

Peter's funeral service will be held at Trent Valley Crematorium on Wednesday 23rd September 2026 at 13:30pm.

Upon the families request no black to be worn but alternatively bright colours, just the way Peter would want it.

Donations made in lieu will be sent to Cancer Research UK

We first met Peter and Vanessa at the Nerja Players, when first on holiday in Spain. He and Vanessa welcomed us warmly to the group, and as we spent more time in Nerja, over many years, our friendship grew, and we enjoyed trips out and Sunday lunches together along the coast. During the winter, we often attended evening balls together; dancing being another enjoyment of Peter's. Peter also visited us in our home in France several times, and we will always remember his irrepressible energy and sense of adventure and fun. Peter's love of the theatre shone brightly through, whether he was centre stage or working tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure each production ran smoothly. We send our sincere condolences to all Peter's family and friends. He leaves timeless memories. Sending love, Rob and Karen Cleary

In 1976 who would have guessed that 50 years later we would still be friends. After all, you and Vanessa were my first theatre landlord and landlady in Derby - for just 5 days! However, from trying to force-feed me real ale, there was something about you, that compelled me to stay in touch. Not only that, but to welcome you & Vanessa on many occasions to stay at my home and me at yours in Nerja, latterly meeting the lovely Sandra.
Your uniqueness will remain with me and our lives will not be the same without you. Xx

I have such fond memories of dear Peter from when we were in our early twenties to a few years ago when he and Sandra came to visit. Always lots of laughter and happy times. A very dear friend. With love, Sue Cornford
