Absolutely devastated to be learning this news. Peter was my Dad's cousin. Trevor Burgess. I used to love talking with Peter about our family tree. So so unbelievably sad to see this.

Peter was a wonderful person who gladly showed me around Melton and the villages near his home in Great Dalby. Family, food, music, art, history and theatre were the topics of conversations and full of laughter. He graciously hosted my 91 (now 95) year old father and his wife when we came out from California for a visit in 2018. I first meet Peter through his old college chum Robert Elliott and his daughter Sophie back in 1996.

The best teacher anyone could have, even as an adult, he always would say hello and remember your name. I miss seeing him around town. RIP.

A teacher that inspired me to do exactly that…teach children in the most fun and exciting way possible! A brilliant man who I will always remember. Thank you Mr Burgess for not just being an inspiration but for giving me the happiest memories of primary school. Rest easy ❤️
