RogerBURGESS(Monkseaton). It is with sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Roger, aged 92 years, in Newcastle. Dear husband of Barbara, much loved father of Andrew and Ben, loved grandad of Thomas, Joe and Elliot.
Roger was a groundbreaking TV producer, unique at the time in creating drama/documentaries for BBC North East on local historic themes. After taking early retirement he continued his freelance career with the rival television company Tyne Tees and with University of Newcastle University Audio Visual Committee - producing medical videos. Then in 1990 he became heavily involved in the production and wrote the script of the first Tynemouth Pageant plays - The Long Invasion. Roger was held in firm regard by everyone involved throughout the subsequent five Pageants! he was also a much respected director at Tynemouth Priory Theatre.
