I passed by on a casual enquiry, wondering where Roger was nowadays. I first met hime in 1976, when i visited Chelfham Mill School as a trainee educational psychologist. Wow, this guy had put something special together. I had last seen Roger around 1985 in Hong Kong, shortly after i had moved there. I never saw him after. But you always remember a man like Roger. This is such sad news. A real loss. Rest in peace Roger. Sam Winter,

I was a student there in 1968~71. I remember him with his brown beard and his daughter Kate. I have wonderful memories of the place and the 2 dogs, Smoky and Poppo there were my best friends and helped me out in my lonely times there. The staff: Angela Chichester and Joyce Chichester, Mr. Slee, Mr. Cheshire, Tom, Mr. Thornton, The man that looked after the animals, Mr. Prichard, (think that was his name.) My best friends, Edward Richardson and Christopher Butcher. I miss the wild otters, herons and owls that i saw wild there too.
Nick.

On a whim I decided to search his name and have hence only now (in January 2018), learned of his demise. I attended Chelfham Mill school from 1980 to 1984 and later attended Chelfham Senior School near Tavistock. I have fond memories of the schools and Roger, both of whom I credit for helping me turn my life around from what was a troubled start. I went onto University following my time at Chelfham obtained a masters degree and have had a sucsessful carerr as a Social Worker. Roger, Angela, Francis Acres, Mike Mather, John Chivener and many more from the Chelfham Scools were inprirational to me and essential in giving me the self confidence that has helped me through life. Rest in peace and God bless and thank you.
