PeterBURNSIn Loving Memory of Peter Burns
It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Peter Burns, a devoted father and grandfather, loyal friend, and proud servant of his community, who left us peacefully on Saturday 17th May 2025, age 78.
Peter served with distinction in Staffordshire Police for over 30 years having joined as a cadet age 17, rising to the rank of sergeant and spending part of his career with the Air Unit - a role he took immense pride in. He was a man of quiet strength, sharp wit, and unwavering integrity, respected by colleagues and friends alike.
After retiring from the force, Peter brought his warmth and humour to new roles. First for The AA Roadwatch, becoming a familiar voice and presence as "Pete on the big green bike" helping thousands of people avoid queues and jams, and then Regent Travel as a brilliant assisted tour guide. He had a lifelong love of travel, food and adventure, always keen to explore new places and meet new people.
Peter was widowed in 1999 when his beloved wife Marion passed away at just 49. He missed her every day and now they are reunited.
A funeral service to celebrate Peter's life will be held on Friday 6th June 2025 at 2.30pm at Stafford crematorium, and afterwards everyone is welcome to join us at Stafford Rangers Football Ground - a fitting place to gather in his memory.
His sons Andrew and Matthew, his granddaughter Phoebe, Jenny, Julie, and his sister Jo would love for you to join them to celebrate and remember a truly remarkable life.
