JohnBURNYEATMr John Burnyeat, of Oakwood Road, Accrington passed away peacefully on Monday, December 7, in Royal Blackburn Hospital following a short illness related to Parkinson’s disease, aged 73. John was the most dearly loved and devoted husband of Sandra, the loving stepfather of Alison and Charlotte King, and adored grandad of Quincy, Dilly and Beckett. The family moved to Accrington 30 years ago when John was appointed manager of the then Halifax Building Society in Accrington. His career took him later to Rochdale, Bolton and Haslingden branches of the Halifax, but the family made their home in Accrington, making strong connections and friendships that John valued for the rest of his life. John was a loyal Accrington Stanley supporter and especially loved travelling on the team bus in the old days. He also supported Accrington Cricket Club and was proud to be an active committee member for several years. Following retirement, he became a governor of The Hollins High School and his commitment and dedication to the role over a number of years was greatly appreciated by fellow governors and staff. He had many interests including nature, wildlife and music, but his greatest love in life was his family and friends and he will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him. A private family funeral was due to take place at 1pm on Thursday, December 17 - if anyone wishes to watch the service online, please contact Hyndburn Funeral Service. Donations to Parkinson’s UK are gratefully received at c/o Hyndburn Funeral Services, Queen’s Road, Accrington, or directly at https:// uk.virginmoneygiving. com/SomeoneSpecial/ JohnBurnyeat
