John was a good neighbour, friend and a colleague at East Devon College for many years
He and I taught general studies together and the students benefitted from his vast knowledge of music. He shared his passion with so many people in performance and teaching. His book was erudite and he so enjoyed the launch party. We met regularly on the way to buy a paper. He was always funny and gracious. He will be much missed.
