My life hasn’t reached any greatness, except within
It has touched upon thousands of others
and when all is done
and we are dust
and events are gone
and in the moment
I give you from my heart a speck of warmth
to do with what you will
and it lifts you an iota and carries sparks of light
for all of time, then I will die content
that I have lived well.

and practical property mentor David Cardwell (Walter)

David (Walter) was a friend and mentor to me in so many things property for twenty years. He coached as well as project managed, advised me on building condition on innumerable viewings. His skill and technical insight was unerring. He was a key member of my property ‘power team’, with also comprehensive professional connections. He was a people person. Also a very private person. Before he did the first project with me, a significant project when I was new to property investing, he interrogated me for an hour to ‘decide’ whether he wanted to work with me. I apparently passed the test. Shortly before he died he told me that I am “a good person to speak with in the waiting room”. On the last occasion I telephoned he didn’t want to talk and I knew that the end was near...
