Steven JohnCAREYsadly passed away at his home in Brill, Constantine on Sunday 5th September 2021, aged 65, after a bravely fought battle against cancer. He was born on January 23rd 1956 in Dartford Kent and moved to Cornwall in the mid 1980’s with his first wife June and twin daughters Karen & Sabrina. He was the middle son of Jacque & James (Jimmy) Carey, both deceased, latterly of Brill but originally of Dartford, Kent. He was also brother to Laurence (deceased) and Stanley. However for many of his early years he believed that he was in fact one of four brothers. As his Mum raised her younger brother Will as one of the family from the day that she and Jimmy got married. Steve’s marriage to June unfortunately ended in the late 80’s and he then when on to meet and marry Mo, a local Cornish girl. They shared their mutual love of anything nautical including Boating & Angling and enjoyed extensive foreign travel. Steve was involved with the running of Mawnan Angling Club & Kernow Specimen Fish Group alongside his father-in-law, Pat Laity. He continued with the stewardships after Pat’s death. Steve won many accolades for both shore and boat angling both at club and county level and will be sadly missed by his many friends in the angling community. Steve worked for the last 30 years at Flambards Theme Park and repaired anything mechanical, and it is here he met & later married his third wife Demelza, who also worked at the park. Steve is mourned by his wife Demelza & her family and is survived by his daughters Karen & Sabrina and his grandchildren. Steve will also be sadly missed by his Uncle Will and older brother Stan, his nieces and nephews, Dean, Haley, Michael, Lindsey, Elisha and Chloe and by his late brother Laurence’s step children, Tina, Zena & Josh. Steve had a number of cousins who will also mourn his passing. R.I.P Steven John Carey – we miss you.
