Dear Dad,

This is the second father’s day without you, and to no surprise, I’m still finding it hard. There’s been so many times this past year where I could have really used your advice or listened to your funny stories. Sometimes I try and imagine in my head what you would say, but it’s not the same. It never will be.

When I first lost you, I did everything I could to feel connected to you. I researched our family history, rewatched old videos, flicked through the photo albums, listened to your voice notes, read the emails you had written to me, and looked through your old possessions.

Nowadays, I actually find it too painful. I’m not sure what the logic is to that, as I thought it’d be the other way round - perhaps I’ll have an answer on the third father’s day without you.

I always knew my time was limited with you, but I thought I had a little more time than I actually did. But I know you had to go. I just really miss you.

I love you,
Always and forever,
Jade. xxxxxX

My first Father’s Day without you, Dad.

You were always particular about cards on Father’s Day. Writing ‘To Dad’ and not ‘Dear Dad’, putting the date on them, how gifts can NOT be a substitute for a card. You kept one of my Father’s Day cards I had written for you, but I didn’t write the date on it and now I have no clue when I wrote it. I hate it when you’re right!

I wish you were here. The world might go on but I don’t go a day without thinking about you.

Loved and missed,
Always and forever,
Jade. Xxx

I was unfortunate not to have known Fred for too long, but even over that short time he was someone who made the lives of those he knew brighter, funnier, and happier, including my own. A loving father, grandfather, and friend. Thank you for being as special as you were to all who were fortunate enough to have crossed paths with you x

My grandfather was a man who had the remarkable ability to make everyone laugh, no matter the situation. His sense of humour was contagious, always lightening up even the toughest of days with his clever jokes and playful banter. But beyond the jokes, he was the most supportive person anyone could ask for—always there with a listening ear and words of encouragement. He had an incredible way of making you feel like you could take on anything, and his love and guidance will stay with us forever.

Fred was a great friend as well as a great golfer. We enjoyed many rounds in Naples, Florida . He was a good reader of the game and an equally good teacher. He had many friends there and was highly respected. My thoughts and love are with Jayne, Andrew and Jade at this sad time. Margaret
