David GeorgeCARTERAge 90, passed away peacefully at home in Plymouth on the 6th December 2022. Former shipwright craftsman, Merchant Navy ship's carpenter, trade union representative/branch secretary for the shipwrights and sailmakers at Devonport Dockyard and Labour City Councillor for the Tamerton Foliot Ward 1963 - 1972, David spent much of his working life as a representative and advocate for working people and as the treasurer for The Dockyard Children's Home, Mary Tavy. He continued this role on retirement as a consultant for Bond Pearce and as a hobby enjoyed building and flying model aircraft at Plasterdown, nr Horrabridge. He is survived by his wife of 68 years Pamela, his son Paul, daughter Jayne, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The funeral will be held at Efford Crematorium on Monday 9th January at 10.45am, followed by a service of Remembrance and Thanksgiving at St. Ann's Church, Glenholt, Plymouth at 12 noon.
