JackCAVANNAGHPeacefully in hospital on Saturday, February 20, Jack, aged 85, of Accrington. The devoted husband of the late Olive, loving father of Lance, cherished grandfather of Laura and James, dear brother of Ian and Irene. He was also a loved relative and good friend to many, especially Marguerite. Jack spent his working life in teaching, working his way to become Headmaster for many years at Read C of E Primary School. He was passionate about his work and the education of children. Jack was a keen musician and player of jazz piano and could often be found playing his favourite tunes. A keen sportsman and lifelong Blackburn Rovers fan, Jack loved to attend the matches to support his favourite team and was a season ticket holder. Following his retirement Jack travelled around the world with his wife Olive. They especially enjoyed cruising, visiting many countries and enjoying the local culture and traditions. Most of all, Jack was a devoted family man who was always very proud of his son and grandchildren’s achievements. Due to current restrictions a private funeral by invitation only will be held at Christ Church, Accrington on Monday, March 8 at 10.45am followed by committal at Accrington Crematorium.
