LesleyCHARDOn the day 29th June 2022, Lesley Chard (Nee Compton) wife to the late John Chard and mother to daughter Jane and son Grenville, passed away in Gloucestershire Royal Hospital following a short illness. Our mum Lesley was born in 1934 to our gran Lilian Compton in Ambleside Road, Lightwater, Surrey in a little bungalow called Barrymore, which was built by Lilian's husband Edgar Frank Compton. It was to become a beautiful home for our mum and all her brothers and sisters to grow up in. Lesley went to school in Lightwater, then later met a man called John, he was a Royal Navy man and spent many months at sea. Every week away dad would write letters to our mum. They married at All Saints Church Lightwater before returning to Gosport to complete his navel term, soon though only to go back to a house on Lightwater Hill called "Timberdown". That house was where we grew into our teen years, before the four of us moved to Chippenham. Dad at the time had become a technical author with the Navy in offices in Bath, mum was so proud, we all were. They lived for each other, we lived for each other. Eventually, retirement found them living in Hilperton Trowbridge where in time dad passed away. Mum slowly deteriorated with Alzheimer's and a decision was made to move her closer to me (Grenville) St Oswald's Village, Gloucester. Sadly less than a year later, our lovely mum passed away, exactly six years to the day following the loss of our dad. Mum, we will all miss you, Dad is waiting to take your hand.
Funeral service to be held at Gloucester Crematorium on Thursday 28th July 2022 at 2.00pm.

Mum, I honestly can't say anymore than I already have in my tribute to you other than this.In my lifetime, Ive been along some bumpy roads but you stood by me and helped me get through. When I met Brioni on one of those bumpy roads, you welcomed her into our family and stood by her as if she was your own. Thank you mum, I'm saying this on her behalf, Brioni thought the world of you and we will both miss you.

Mum, you were the most gentlest, kindest person I've ever known. You didn't ask for much, you just wanted to be happy and if your family were happy, you were. Family meant everything to you. I am going to miss you terribly, it is going to be so hard not to be able to pick up the phone and talk to you. Every time we have fish and chips I'm going to have you whispering in my ear, can I pinch a chip. Mum, I miss you so flipping much I wish Heaven had visiting times. Sleep well, lots of love and kisses. - Jane xxx
