Together with the Governing Body at St John of Beverley RC Primary School, I had the pleasure of appointing Mark as Caretaker at our school in 2007. Mark quickly proved to be much more than a caretaker. He was a pivotal part of our team and our school community. He could turn his hand to anything from working in the school kitchen, his breakfast club toast and hot chocolate were legendary...to maintaining our award winning school gardens, to overseeing building projects, contributing to school fayres ...he was a wonderful Father Christmas! No task was too great for Mark. He commanded the respect of the children and always encouraged them to be positive even in difficult times. Mark was a devoted family man. To his sons James and Tom, his sister Jenny, his brothers Bill and Ken and to all the extended Chatwin family, we send our sincere and heartfelt condolences. Mark was a trusted colleague and friend to us at St John's, valued by staff, governors, parents and pupils alike. Rest in Peace, Mark.

I had the absolute pleasure to work with Mark at St John of Beverley Primary in the early 2002s. He was a part of the team that helped to make the school the vibrant place it was, especially when it came to creasting a wildlife and vegetable graden. Nothing was too difficult for him - nothing. Mark's memory willl live long in the hearts of all that knew him.
