David, Having spent a nomadic childhood I finally arrived at Harrow Weald County Grammar School in the late 50s and you were the first early teenage friend that I had. I fondly remember our cycle trips out to RAF Northholt to watch aeroplanes and also our trips to air shows. Shoreham sticks in my mind most as we decided to cross the runway just as a Spitfire was landing, nearly decapitating both of us. It was a pleasure to know you.

We remember David for the sincerity of his friendship, his generosity of spirit, our musical discussions - and our walks with him around the prehistoric sites in the Land's End Peninsula which meant so much to him. Raymond and Patricia Cox

Goodbye Dave. I miss those lifts that you gave me to work in your Nissan Micra - what an education that was. From Bruckner to Ravi Shankar - great times! You are still remembered fondly by your friends at Watford Grammar School for Boys, and the 'leaving card' that you drew of the pigeonholes was treasured by all the escapees. Sadly I am still there, so never received one!! Kevin Thorold

Goodbye Dave. Will miss your wit right from when we were all at Harrow Weald from age 11, the Coop Film Society run by your Dad , the Antiapartheid marches when the headmaster objected to using a day off school for such political purposes and later when you had us in stitches all afternoon in St Albans with your jokes. You will be missed so much.Miriam Beeks
